Marked by strong regional characteristics such as patterns of ‘Ajrak’ and threads as well as by significant influences from other cultures Mussarat Arif’s recent works in calligraphy appears in square and circular shapes, highlighted by bright colours red, orange, blue, ochre and black symbolising positive thinking.

Although there are many types of scripts practiced the world over for calligraphy but Mussarat Arif is one of the women calligraphers of our time who preferably uses Khat-e-Kufi in her artworks with painterly touch.
